In Vietnamese, "hừng hực" refers to something burning with intense energy, often used to describe passion or vitality, while "hùng hục" conveys heavy, forceful movement, often associated with exertion or effort. Both expressions emphasize intensity, either physical or emotional. Thao’s performance delves deeper into self-awareness by exploring the profound connection between body and soul, expressed through these powerful movements. "Hừng hực" represents the protagonist's inner fire—his passion and desire to break free from societal constraints and stereotypes, while "hùng hục" reflects the physical struggle and labor in his pursuit of self-realization. The protagonist navigates a visceral journey where movement is not just physical but spiritual, allowing him to reconnect with his body, confront societal expectations, and ultimately, seek balance and self-love. The performance becomes a vivid expression of this alignment between the body’s intense movements and the soul’s deeper yearnings.

Jo, or Ngô Kỳ Duyên, is a Saigonese multi-disciplinary artist whose work spans moving images, VR, AR, new media, sound art, and film. Focused on electronic art therapy, her art serves as a mental refuge—an urgent need in a world marked by post-COVID challenges, wars, and natural disasters.

Formerly building surreal, dreamy spaces as escapist sanctuaries, Jo now channels her sensitivity to social contexts and humanity’s resilience, using high-tech storytelling to advocate for artistic expression beyond traditional boundaries and to foster collective healing.
